A Markdown branch is available...
These skills turn reading and thinking into named steps instead of one generic summarize prompt. Paper reading is for someone without the field's background: the question, the contribution, and where the evidence stops. Book breakdowns keep more than one storyline. Concept analysis cuts from several directions and ends in one line, while mechanism research traces a process and checks causes. The business-model canvas separates source material, inference, and gaps, and it keeps an editable page plus a data file. Note-style skills default to answering in the chat and save a file only when asked. It fits people who want a coding assistant for Chinese reading or project framing and can use Org or Markdown.
ljg-skills is a Codex skill set published by developer lijigang. Installed with the skills command, it covers analogy, book breakdowns, paper reading, concept analysis, mechanism research, and business-model canvases. The default output is Org format. A Markdown branch is available for common note apps. The card skill depends on browser screenshots and needs extra setup after install. Exporting a canvas image also needs a real browser that can take screenshots.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Close reading of papers and books
The paper skill explains the research question, the author's contribution, and the evidence boundary. The book skill keeps the main threads and how facts and consequences change the reading.
Concept analysis and mechanisms
Concept analysis opens a term from directions such as history, language, and form. Mechanism research follows a process and checks causes and the conditions for transfer.
Nine-block business model canvas
Project material is arranged in the classic nine blocks, with source material, inference, and gaps kept apart, plus an image and editable page and data files.
Cards and two note formats
The card skill can render a long image, a full-text card, a comic, or a whiteboard. Note skills install from an Org or Markdown branch with the same behavior.
Read a paper without field background
A reader points at a paper and the skill explains the contribution through concrete roles and actions, marking where the evidence stops.
Map a project's business model
A founder gives project material to the business-model skill and receives a nine-block canvas plus an editable page and data file.
Turn a chapter into a long image
A reader uses the classical-text skill or the card skill to lay out the source, notes, and interpretation as one continuous long image.
The repository installs through the skills command with Codex as the target, either globally or in the current project. You can install every skill or name one, such as cards or concept analysis. The default branch is Org format. For Markdown, install from the md branch. A list-only flag shows the skills without installing them.
The readme says the two branches behave the same and differ in the default file format. The Org branch suits Org users such as Emacs. The Markdown branch suits note tools such as Obsidian, VSCode, and Notion. Knowledge maps, guided reading, explanation, and mechanism research are delivered in the chat by default and saved only when you ask. Diagrams follow the text instead of a fixed hierarchy.
ljg-card depends on Playwright screenshots. The repository says to install dependencies in that skill directory and install Chromium, or long images, comics, and whiteboards cannot be rendered. Full-text mode does not create new images; it only shows images already in the source. The business-model canvas returns an image on both branches and also keeps an editable page and data file. Image export needs a real browser too.
