For product, data, and operations work...
Pick the mode from the deliverable in front of you instead of dropping every request into the same box. Use Work for a plan, a spreadsheet, or a deck. Use Code to change code, read a diff, and open a terminal. When the same repository needs parallel work, set the environment to a worktree so each task has its own directory and branch. When it finishes, it can merge, or you can merge yourself. Use Design for an interface. A web result can be previewed, and you can select an element, edit its style, or send a comment back into the chat. Away from the desk, hold to talk on the mobile app to dispatch a task. If the computer is offline, the task continues in the cloud. It fits product, engineering, and design roles that move among documents, code, and design.
TraeWork is ByteDance's AI-native workbench, extended from the SOLO mode in TraeCode. It has a web app, a desktop app, and the TRAE mobile app. The web app needs no install and runs only in the cloud, which suits a short task. The desktop app does not depend on TraeCode and can run locally, in the cloud, or in a worktree. The docs list macOS and Windows. Work is for product, data, and operations work on documents, spreadsheets, and decks. Code is for coding, debugging, repositories, and Git. Design is for designing, revising, and handing off a finished file. All three clients share one account and sync tasks. Input can be text, voice, attachments, images, slash commands, and skills, and GitHub, Feishu, and MCP can be connected.
Difficulty: Intermediate
Three work modes
Work handles documents, data, and decks. Code handles coding and Git. Design handles design, revision, and a finished handoff.
Web, desktop, and phone
The web app runs only in the cloud and needs no install. The desktop app can run locally or in the cloud. The phone can dispatch tasks, and an offline computer falls back to the cloud.
Isolate changes in a worktree
A local Code task can get its own directory and branch. When it finishes, you choose an automatic merge or a manual merge.
Preview and connect external tools
The browser tab previews the result and lets you select an element to edit. GitHub, Feishu, MCP, skills, and custom slash commands can also be connected.
Product managers write a plan
A product manager uploads a spreadsheet or a deck in Work mode, follows the to-dos in the task summary, and previews the result in the browser.
Developers change one repo in parallel
A developer uses a worktree in Code mode to separate a new feature from an urgent fix, then chooses an automatic or manual merge.
Dispatch a task from a phone
Away from the computer, hold to talk in the TRAE mobile app to dispatch a task. If the computer is offline, the cloud continues it.
The web app needs no download and offers only the cloud environment, which suits a temporary request or a quick check while away. The desktop app is independent, does not depend on TraeCode, and can run locally, in the cloud, and in a worktree. With the same account, cloud tasks sync between web and desktop. The terminal and code changes appear on local or worktree tasks. A cloud-only task's tool panel does not include those two tabs.
Yes. The TRAE mobile app dispatches and manages tasks. Hold to talk is the default, and text, attachments, and shortcut commands also work. It can watch TraeWork in the cloud and on more than one computer. If a computer goes offline, the task moves to the cloud, and the status still syncs among the phone, the web app, and the desktop app. The web and desktop apps handle the deeper interaction and acceptance.
